If you saw my Instagram post this weekend, then you know I am working on my girls’ Valentine’s for school. My oldest is in Kindergarten and her handwriting homework for the week is to write her classmates’ names on their Valentine’s. While my daughter has decent handwriting for a 5 year old, I thought I would make this a little easier on her and myself by adding lines to her cards. She actually whizzed through them Sunday, so now we can just have fun gluing the message on the other side and attaching the cards to the gift, which are cookie cutters.
I am not a huge fan of giving sugary sweets, even though I have done it and will again at some point. However, I do know that the cookie cutters may be used to make sugar treats, but they can also be used for playdough. Last week, I found a large box of 100 cookie cutters at Bed Bath & Beyond for around $10. I used a 20% off coupon so, I got them for about $8. You can find similar ones at Amazon:
We split them up and pulled out the extreme Halloween and Christmas designs because I didn’t feel they were fitting this time of year. My 5 yr old was able to give all of her classmates 2 cookie cutters – one with their first or last initial or a number, and then a larger shape. For my 2 yr old, we are just giving one to each of her friends.
If you want to quickly make these Valentine’s too, then click below to download the files. For the To & From, I used colored card stock (red & pink) and then white card stock for the message side. The To & From side squares are meant to be about 3.3 inches when cut out and the other side is 3 inches.
I’d love to know if you use this design, or even just the To & From!
